Traveling to Poland by car is convenient and profitable, especially for Ukrainians who often travel for business, shopping, or work. However, to travel abroad, you must have an international insurance policy - a green card. This document protects the driver from financial expenses in the event of an accident outside Ukraine.
The cost of a green card to Poland depends on many factors, such as the type of vehicle, the validity of the policy, and others. However, there are ways to save money on the purchase of this necessary document.
At the beginning of the full-scale invasion, an international car insurance policy was not required, and Ukrainian drivers could cross the border without a green card and obtain it later abroad or buy a local car insurance policy. However, the rules have changed and now everyone who travels outside Ukraine in their own car must have insurance. There have also been changes in the rules related to driving licenses in Poland. Ukrainians who have lived abroad for more than 185 days and plan to stay in another country are required to exchange their Ukrainian license.
Online services. Today, there are many online services that offer online green card application. It is convenient and fast, and often allows you to get a discount because there is no need to maintain an office and staff.
Insurance companies. Contacting an insurance company directly can also be a profitable option. Some companies offer discounts for regular customers or when applying for several types of insurance at the same time.
If the validity of the green card for a car in Poland has expired, this is also not a problem. Expert Daria Hrobach explains: "There is currently an electronic green card policy in Ukraine, and you can apply for it even if you are abroad."
Before you buy a green card to Poland, be sure to check the reputation of the insurance company you plan to buy it from. Make sure that the company has a license to carry out insurance activities and positive feedback from customers.
