The Department of Veterans Affairs, established at the end of last year, has begun its work and has led to the emergence of 22 new services in the field of veterans policy in the Centers for Administrative Services.

This was reported by the press service of the Odesa City Council.

In particular, from now on, ASCs are responsible for establishing the status of a person with a disability as a result of war, a family member of a fallen defender, issuing, extending and replacing certificates. It is also now possible to apply for healthcare benefits, professional adaptation, and housing compensation at the ASC.

In early December, acting Odesa Mayor Ihor Koval appointed a head of the new Department of Veterans Affairs, which was created in the Odesa City Council. The department is headed by Volodymyr Yermakov, who previously headed the municipal institution "Service Office "Veteran Hub". Volodymyr Yermakov was dismissed from his position as head of the municipal institution by another order.

A separate Department for Veterans Affairs, which oversees the implementation of state and local programs to support defenders, was established in Odesa during a city council session on November 19.

The department includes three divisions - for the implementation of the city's targeted program, state veterans' initiatives, and financial support - as well as five directly subordinate departments: legal, personnel, citizens' appeals, social inspectors, and the front office.

About fifty employees of the Labor Department were to be transferred to the newly created unit. Its key tasks include the organization of social payments, compensation and benefits for veterans and their families, professional adaptation programs, psychological and medical rehabilitation, and events to honor the memory of fallen soldiers.
