Special forces from the Main Intelligence Directorate (GUR) successfully struck a Russian "Bastion" coastal missile system, which launches "Onyx" missiles that Russia uses to strike southern regions, particularly Odesa and Mykolaiv.

This was reported by the Main Intelligence Directorate of the Ministry of Defense of Ukraine.

According to the agency, in August 2026, fighters from the “Group 13” special forces unit carried out an operation in the temporarily occupied Crimea. The target was the Russian “Bastion” coastal missile system.

This system is capable of launching “Onyx” and “Zircon” missiles, which the Russian military uses to strike Ukraine.

In addition, “Group 13” operators destroyed and damaged two fuel tankers and a command-and-staff vehicle belonging to Russian troops.

The occupiers have nowhere to hide! The armed struggle continues! Glory to Ukraine! — the Main Intelligence Directorate added.

Strikes against such systems are crucial for Ukraine’s southern regions, as “Bastion” systems are used by Russian forces to launch missiles at ground targets.

"Bastion" is a Russian coastal missile system. Its primary purpose is to engage surface targets; however, Russia also uses missiles from this system to strike ground targets in Ukraine. The system’s primary missile is the P-800 “Onyx,” a supersonic cruise missile. Russia also uses modified launch capabilities to deploy “Zircon” missiles.

The “Onyx” is a supersonic missile developed primarily as an anti-ship weapon. The Russian military also uses it to strike ground targets in Ukraine. In particular, missiles of this type have been launched from occupied Crimea toward the Odesa region.

The “Zircon” is the Russian 3M22 missile, which Russia positions as a hypersonic weapon. According to the Main Intelligence Directorate (GUR), it was designed for ships and submarines, and Russia is using it in the war against Ukraine.

As Intent previously reported, on August 4, the enemy launched an attack with“Onyx” missiles on a crowded area near a market in the suburbs of Odesa.

Civilian infrastructure was damaged as a result of the attack. Emergency services were on the scene, and information regarding possible casualties and the extent of the damage was being verified.
