A veterans' space is being launched in Izmail at the Sports Palace, where defenders and their families will be able to receive support and assistance free of charge. The project aims to help veterans return to active life through rehabilitation, psychological support and social adaptation.

The corresponding decision No. 379 was adopted on April 3, Intent reports.

The Executive Committee of the Izmail City Council gave the go-ahead to create a city veterans' space.

The new space will operate on the basis of the Izmail Sports Palace Leisure Center. As stated in the document, the main goal of the space is to reintegrate war veterans, people with special services to the state, participants in the Revolution of Dignity, and family members of fallen or deceased defenders of Ukraine into the community.

The work of the veterans' space will be funded by the budget of the Izmail city community as part of the city's program of social support for the defenders of Ukraine. Services in the space will be provided free of charge to soldiers.

Main areas of work:

Trainings, seminars, conferences and other events are being prepared to support the veteran community and facilitate their social adaptation.

The veterans' space is planned to interact with a number of municipal agencies, including the Department of Labor and Social Protection, the Administrative Services Center, medical facilities and educational institutions of the community.

The city authorities of Izmail have been deciding on the location for the
veterans' space for several years. In particular, in 2024, the deputies supported the idea of placing the organization in an abandoned building of the former library of the Izmail State University of the Humanities on Nezalezhnosti Avenue, in the city center. However, for this to happen, the university had to transfer its facility to the community's communal property.

Izmail has also amended the city's Program of Social Support for Internally Displaced Persons for 2026. The total amount of funding is almost 6 million, which is provided from the community budget.
