At a meeting on February 25, the Executive Committee of the Izmail City Council decided to amend the Program for the Development of Barrier-Free Space for 2026.

According to an Intent correspondent, the relevant adjustments relate to the list of activities and funding to be implemented during the year.

The total amount of funding for the Program's activities during the year is UAH 12,003,330. The largest amount - UAH 5 million 383,610 thousand - will be allocated for the current repair of safety lanes with the creation of a barrier-free space on Savytskoho Street from Semynarska to Telegraphna.

Another UAH 1 million 856.4 thousand has been allocated for the repair of safety lanes on Verkhnotorgovaya Street (from Savytskoho to Kommercheskaya). In addition, UAH 2 million 855.9 thousand will be allocated for the second stage of the current repair of evacuation routes in the place of temporary stay of internally displaced persons at 4 Klushina Street. These are measures to ensure barrier-free access for people with limited mobility.

In addition, UAH 1 million 907.4 thousand is planned to be allocated for the arrangement of a barrier-free space on Pokrovska Street (from Savytskoho to Dunayska). The changes are aimed at ensuring unimpeded access to community infrastructure facilities, in particular for people with disabilities, the elderly, parents with baby carriages and other low-mobility groups.

In parallel with updating the Program, the city continues to work on creating a comprehensive barrier-free route. Recently, Izmail hosted a regular meeting of the Council for Ensuring an Unobstructed Environment for All Groups of the Population chaired by Deputy Chairman of the Council, Deputy Mayor Sergey Luzanov. Representatives of transport carriers, banking institutions, retail chains and other establishments located directly along the future route were invited to participate.

During the meeting, the concept of creating a barrier-free route in Izmail was presented. At the same time, the city authorities call for the need to start the process of removing obstacles to access for people with limited mobility in institutions and enterprises.
A special map of the barrier-free route will be an important tool for monitoring and informing residents. It will mark all the establishments and institutions along the route with their level of accessibility:

All institutions and enterprises along the route have already received or will soon receive letters with links to the legal acts that regulate the creation of an unobstructed space.
