A second lawsuit has been filed with the HACC to confiscate the assets of Russian oligarch Oleg Deripaska and Rusal, which supplied aluminum to the Russian military-industrial complex. The lawsuit seeks to recover bauxite and alumina worth more than UAH 2 billion in favor of the state.
This was reported by the press service of the Ministry of Justice of Ukraine.
The company, controlled by Deripaska, supplied aluminum products to Russian defense companies that manufacture military equipment, weapons and ammunition.
In addition, it has been established that he owns the Russian Machines industrial conglomerate, which includes the Military Industrial Company, one of the key suppliers of weapons to the Russian army. His companies produce armored vehicles, including BTR-80, BTR-82A and Tiger-M combat vehicles for the Russian Defense Ministry.
The facts of cooperation with the aggressor's military-industrial complex were confirmed by the HACC decision in February 2023 and the decision of the HACC Appeals Chamber in June of the same year.
In its lawsuit, the Ministry of Justice demands the recovery in favor of the state of more than 440 thousand tons of bauxite and 110 thousand tons of alumina, with a total value of more than UAH 2 billion. These assets were discovered thanks to the work of the SBU.
At the end of January 2025, the SBU blocked the supply of strategic raw materials to the Russian military industry, and the court seized more than UAH 2 billion of assets belonging to Oleg Deripaska. It was established that these products were intended for Russian Rusal plants that manufacture components for Iskander ballistic missiles, combat drones and radar systems.
The supervisory authorities are analyzing information on the company's bank accounts, including closed accounts, fund balances, financial transactions, and counterparty identification.
In June 2023, the High Anti-Corruption Court finally confiscated the plant owned by Deripaska. Thanks to the SBU and the State Bureau of Investigation, Ukraine nationalized the sanctioned businessman's enterprises worth UAH 10 billion. In March 2024, Mykolaiv Alumina Plant became the property of the State Property Fund of Ukraine, and it is now managed by four companies.
This plant is the largest in the country and one of the key non-ferrous metallurgical enterprises in Europe. In connection with its operation, it is planned to build a new storage facility for waste from bauxite processing and alumina production - red sludge - near Mykolaiv.
