The delegation of the Ministry of Education and Science of Ukraine, headed by Deputy Minister Denys Kurbatov, presented the results of state certification in the fields of Natural Sciences and Mathematics and Engineering and Technology at the Mechnikov Odesa National University.

This was reported by the university's press service.

The results of state certification:

Starting in 2026, the results of the certification will be the basis for the introduction of a new model of science funding in Ukraine: additional basic funding for five years based on performance and with competitive funding in narrow priority areas. In addition, the results of the certification will affect the definition of the types of higher education institutions, the distribution of places in postgraduate and doctoral programs, and access to international programs, including World Bank projects.

Attestation is a tool for transitioning to performance-based funding to increase the capacity of the best higher education and research institutions; at the same time, Ukraine is experiencing low levels of spending on science (2022-2024: 0.33-0.37 percent of gross domestic product).

Earlier, Yaroslav Chentsov , a PhD student at the Faculty of History and Philosophy of the I. Mechnikov Odesa National University, defended his dissertation on "Nomadic Population of Steppe Ukraine in the Period of the Juchi Ulus: Reconstruction of the Identity Structure."
