The Standing Committee on Social Policy and Health Care of the Mykolaiv Regional Council endorsed submitting the issue of increasing the authorized capital of the municipal nonprofit enterprise “Maternity Hospital No. 3” for consideration at an extraordinary session.

As reported during the committee meeting, the need for this decision stems from the enterprise’s accumulated debt. To resolve the situation and subsequently repay the debts, it is necessary to amend the institution’s charter and increase its authorized capital.

According to representatives of the regional council, the authorized capital will be increased by 5.5 million hryvnias. This information was provided by the enterprise itself.

During the discussion, it was noted that the changes are necessary to resolve the debt issue from a legal standpoint and to avoid potential problems in the future due to outstanding financial obligations.

The meeting was attended by the maternity hospital’s management and chief accountant, who joined the discussion online.

The commission members unanimously supported submitting the issue for consideration at an extraordinary session of the Mykolaiv Regional Council. Deputies are expected to make a final decision on increasing the hospital’s authorized capital during a plenary session.

Recently, Intent reported on the reorganization of Maternity Hospital No. 3 and the accumulation of its debt.

As a reminder, in Mykolaiv, members of the regional council supported a decision to launch the final stage of transferring Maternity Hospital No. 3to regional ownership. Despite concerns among some council members regarding the facility’s future, authorities have assured that the medical institution will not lose its specialization and will even expand its range of services.

Regional officials denied any possibility of privatization or closure of the facility. According to them, the maternity hospital willcontinue to operate in its current format, and the range of medical services will even expand. Development plans include the creation of a third-level perinatal center and the introduction of reproductive medicine services, which, according to officials, are currently lacking in the region.

Earlier, on April 9,the Mykolaiv City Counciladopted a resolution on a large-scale reorganization of the city’s healthcare network. It calls for merging hospitals into a single structure and transferring one of the maternity hospitals to regional ownership.

At the time,Mayor Oleksandr Senkevych explainedthat the facility was operating at a loss due to the low number of births and required constant additional funding.
