In Mykolaiv, members of the regional council supported a decision that launches the final stage of transferring maternity hospital No. 3 to the ownership of the region. Despite the concerns of some deputies about the future of the institution, the authorities assured that the medical facility would not lose its profile and would even expand its range of services.

The decision was made at a session of the Mykolaiv Regional Council.

The deputies considered the issue of approving the act of acceptance and transfer of the integral property complex of the municipal non-profit enterprise Maternity Home No. 3 to the Mykolaiv City Council. The decision effectively completes the legal procedure for the transfer of the institution to regional ownership.

During the report, representatives of the regional council emphasized that, according to the law, the signing and approval of the transfer and acceptance certificate is the final stage of the procedure for transferring municipal property.

During the discussion, the deputies raised questions about the future of the medical facility. In particular, deputy Tetyana Demchenko asked what exactly awaits the maternity hospital after the transfer and whether it will change its purpose. In response, the regional council leadership explained that after the registration procedures are completed, the next step will be to reorganize the institution by merging it with Mykolaiv Regional Clinical Hospital. In the future, Maternity Hospital No. 3 is to receive the status of a branch of this medical institution.

The discussion at the session became heated due to the concerns of some deputies about the possible re-profiling or commercialization of the institution. The deputies also raised the issue of financing the future operation of the complex and the sources of property maintenance after the transfer.

In response, representatives of the regional authorities categorically denied the possibility of privatization or closure of the facility. According to them, the maternity hospital will continue to operate in its current format, and the list of medical services will even expand. The development plans include the creation of a third-level perinatal center and the introduction of reproductive medicine, which, according to officials, is currently lacking in the region. The decision was supported by 35 deputies.

Almost two billion hryvnias have been allocated for health care in Mykolaiv over two years. The program envisages the development of medical facilities, upgrading the material and technical base, and providing additional services.
