In the temporarily occupied Oleshky, the humanitarian situation has sharply deteriorated since mid-April. The town is actually under siege due to constant danger and transportation bombings.
This is reported by Most with reference to the head of the Oleshky MVA , Tetiana Hasanenko.
According to her, on April 15, a car that was trying to deliver liquefied gas exploded on a mine. A truck with food also exploded. Despite the fact that people survived, after these incidents, the supply has practically stopped and almost no one dares to go to the city.
Local residents are forced to travel to Skadovsk on their own to get cash. The road passes through mined areas and is under constant threat of shelling. People take other residents' bank cards with them and risk their lives to withdraw money and return.
According to Hasanenko, the situation was dangerous even before. In particular, in December last year, three trucks with food were blown up on the only route to the city. One of the entrepreneurs who was trying to bring bread and cash was shot dead and his money stolen.
About two thousand people are still in the city. Attempts to arrange an organized evacuation have so far failed. According to the head of the MBA, the evacuation should take place with the participation of international organizations and with mandatory recording to avoid provocations.
Ukrainian Ombudsman Dmytro Lubinets said that the situation in Oleshky is a humanitarian catastrophe and a direct consequence of the occupation. He called on the international community to take immediate action and strengthen its response.
As a reminder, Ukraine has asked the International Committee of the Red Cross to use its mandate to organize a safe corridor and deliver humanitarian aid.
An appeal has also been sent to the Russian Ombudsman and the Red Cross leadership to launch the evacuation mechanism. Negotiations between the parties are currently underway to open a humanitarian route.
