Over the past week, occupying forces have carried out nearly 2,000 drone attacks on the Kherson community. More than 90% of the drones were successfully intercepted or destroyed, but some of them reached their targets.

Yaroslav Shanko, head of the Kherson City Military Administration, reported this during an appearance on the “We Are Ukraine” TV channel.

According to him, Russian troops continue to attack Kherson and nearby settlements.

Shanko noted that Russian drone activity remains a particular threat to the city. He said that their targets are most often civilians and civilian infrastructure.

The head of the Kherson City Military Administration also reported that due to Russian strikes on critical infrastructure, problems with electricity and water supply persist in certain areas of the city. The most difficult situation, he said, is in the Korabelny district. Restoring power in some neighborhoods may take a long time, and there is currently no exact timeline.

“Today, there are no secondary tasks for Kherson,” Shanko said, emphasizing that the top priority remains the safety and protection of people’s lives and health.

He also discussed measures to protect the city from attacks. In particular, the Kherson City Council is adjusting public transportation routes, installing anti-drone structures on the most dangerous roads, and expanding the network of protective shelters.

According to Shanko, Kherson currently has approximately 800 shelters. The city continues to set up basic shelters and mobile anti-shrapnel structures.

The head of the City Administration also reported that on August 25, at around 7:00 a.m., a Russian drone attacked Kherson. A 68-year-old man was injured and taken to the hospital in moderate condition. He was diagnosed with a traumatic brain injury and a penetrating shrapnel wound to the abdomen.
