The SBU has exposed yet another Russian soldier suspected of attacking civilians in Kherson. He was piloting a drone that dropped explosives on a woman and her son.

This is evidenced by a ruling from the Central District Court of Mykolaiv.

According to the case file, the soldier was the senior member of the “NP ROY” UAV group and was stationed in the occupied part of the Kherson region. He is accused of participating in Russian drone attacks on civilians in Kherson and the surrounding area.

One such incident occurred on July 14, 2025. Around noon, the man remotely controlled an FPV drone and dropped explosives on a woman and her son, who were walking down a street near Nezalezhnist Avenue and Starobryadnytska Street.

The woman sustained shrapnel wounds to her left lower leg and damage to her Achilles tendon. A medical examination classified the injuries as moderate bodily harm.

Investigators provided the court with video footage of the attacks, the victim’s testimony, and the results of forensic examinations. Bomb disposal experts confirmed that the explosive device was dropped from a drone.

In early June 2026, a Russian military serviceman was charged with violating the laws and customs of war and placed on the wanted list. Under this charge, he faces eight to twelve years in prison.

Also, in early August, the SBU identified another soldier from the Russian Armed Forces’ 404th Motorized Rifle Regiment who piloted an FPV drone and attacked a civilian home in the Kherson region. As a result of the attack, a female resident of the house suffered burns to her face, eyes, ankles, and feet. The house itself was also damaged.
