A school in the Zavodskyi district of Mykolaiv now has a comfortable and safe shelter.

According to Mayor Oleksandr Sienkevych, the shelter was built thanks to the "Collection with a Star" campaign by KFC Ukraine together with savED. The school has a total of 500 students, and the shelter is designed for 250 people.

"So now children will be able to study offline in two shifts," the official added.

According to him, the school has been equipped in such a way that there are separate sections for primary and secondary school students. There is also a bathroom and a medical corner. The ceiling and walls have been repaired, there is a ventilation system, lighting, fire alarm, and all networks and communications have been replaced.

Senkevych also noted that this is not the first time the city council has cooperated with SavED. Earlier, they took over the arrangement of a shelter in a kindergarten and also repaired the largest shelter in one of the city's gymnasiums.

Earlier, one of the city's kindergartens completed the arrangement of a shelter that was created for the safe stay of children during emergencies. The project was made possible with the financial support of the Danish Government and the International Organization for Migration.

On November 27, 2024, the executive committee of the Mykolaiv City Council decided to submit an updated draft Program for Economic and Social Development of the City for 2024-2026 to the City Council. The updated Program is aimed at ensuring safety and improving living conditions for the residents of Mykolaiv, taking into account current challenges and needs. As of today, 22 kindergartens and 31 schools in the city have been equipped with shelters. The protective structures at 13 kindergartens and 13 schools are currently under repair. The goal is to launch offline education wherever possible. This will allow parents to send their children to the nearest schools and also leave room for hybrid learning.
