Sewing of counterfeit branded clothing has been organized in Odesa

In Odesa, a foreigner set up an illegal clothing production facility under the guise of well-known global brands. The sewing shop was located in the industrial district of the city.

According to the press service of the Bureau of Economic Security, the sewing shop was set up in the industrial district of Odesa.

Without licenses, the fraudsters sewed labels of well-known brands on clothes and sold fakes at random and in bulk on the Internet and in markets throughout Ukraine.

"The defendants counterfeited the trademarks of more than 10 well-known clothing brands, which caused material damage to the right holders in particularly large amounts," the BES said.

According to the detectives, the organizer of the clandestine clothing production was a foreign national.

During the searches, BES officers seized industrial equipment for the production of clothing and logo application, including a line for applying colored logos through clichés, a dryer and a heat press for transferring logos, an industrial knife for fabric, and a sewing machine with a control monitor.

Also seized were clothes with trademarks of world-famous brands, fabric in rolls, threads, thermal clothing boxes with accessories, sheets with logo samples, frames-clichés for machines, clothing patterns, documents, drafts, etc.

The estimated value of the seized products and equipment used in the illegal activity is almost UAH 1.8 million.

The investigation is ongoing, and the full range of persons involved in the illegal activity is being established.

By the way, in one of the districts of Odesa, law enforcement officers found a workshop where vodka was bottled. The illegal business was organized by three friends.

Also, household chemicals of well-known brands were illegally produced in Odesa. Law enforcement officers seized goods worth over UAH 53 million.

A well-known millionaire smuggler was also taken into custody in Odesa region.
