A shooting range on the territory of Reni Lyceum No. 2 in Izmail district of Odesa region is to be reconstructed into a dual-use facility with protective properties of a radiation shelter.

This is evidenced by an announcement on the public procurement website Prozorro, Intent reports.

The customer is the Center for the Service of Educational Institutions of the Reni City Council. It is ready to pay more than UAH 78 million for the work.

The reconstruction object is an existing underground building of a former shooting range with an entrance. The building, which was constructed in 1973, has an area of almost 172 square meters. According to the experts, the general technical condition of this building is assessed as "unsuitable for normal operation" and requires reconstruction with expansion for the projected structure with protective properties of a radiation shelter.

The main list of works includes: dismantling of old structures, foundations and floors; construction of new reinforced concrete walls, columns and floor slabs; insulation and waterproofing of walls, roof and floor; arrangement of entrance groups and ventilation shafts; installation of doors and windows; interior decoration of walls, ceilings and floors; installation of water supply, sewerage, heating, ventilation and air conditioning systems; installation of sanitary equipment and arrangement of emergency exits. As a result, the facility will have modern protective properties and will be able to be used as a shelter in case of emergencies. The project envisages making the shelter accessible to people with disabilities and other people with limited mobility.

The main and auxiliary premises will be used in wartime. They will be able to accommodate 1,000 people, including students and staff of the lyceum. There will be a medical room, a fire station and a control room. Each room will have three-tiered transformer beds for students in grades 1-2.

In peacetime, the shelter will be converted into an interactive shooting range, a weightlifting gym, a table tennis room, men's and women's locker rooms, and premises for extracurricular activities, clubs and groups.

According to the terms of the contract, the contractor is to renovate the shooting range in two stages: the first - by December 15, 2025, and the second (final) - by October 31, 2026. The works will be financed from the budget of the Reniia community. In particular, UAH 37 million 663 thousand will be allocated for the first stage this year. Applications for participation in the auction will be accepted until August 23. The auction is scheduled to take place on August 25.
