People have been unable to leave the temporarily occupied town of Oleshky on the left bank of the Kherson region for over a month, and no food or medicine is being delivered to the town. Due to the blockade, constant shelling, and drone attacks, the humanitarian situation is rapidly deteriorating.

This was reported by the publication “Vgoru,” citing Tetyana Gasanenko, head of the Oleshky City Military Administration.

According to her, the last vehicles left Oleshky on May 26. Since then, no food or medicine has been delivered to the city.

Previously, residents of Radenske, Kostogryzove, and other settlements in the community could reach Velyki Kopani, where volunteers and transport providers assisted them. Now, however, leaving the community has become extremely dangerous due to constant shelling, attacks by Russian drones, fires, and landmines.

According to the head of the local administration, about 6,000 people remain in the Oleshky community, including at least 150 children. About 2,000 people live in Oleshky itself.

Gasanenko explained that since supplies have stopped, people are surviving by exchanging food with one another. The local market sells only a small amount of vegetables and leftover food, and prices for potatoes, eggs, and other items remain very high.

The situation with pets is also critical. According to the head of the local self-government body, people have nothing to feed them, so dogs are eating fruit, jam, and in some cases even the bodies of the deceased, which remain on the streets for long periods of time.

In addition, community residents cannot use their bank cards. To withdraw cash, they must travel outside Oleshky, but doing so is practically impossible at this time.

The situation at the local hospital also remains difficult. Due to the lack of electricity, the hospital is operating without light, and there is no fuel for the generators. The only pharmacy attached to the hospital has run out of medication.

According to Tetiana Gasanenko, the hospital’s morgue was destroyed by shelling, so the bodies of the deceased are being stored in the basement. At the same time, Russian occupiers are not allowing the burial of people killed in drone attacks, as their bodies must be transported to Kalanchak for forensic examination—which is currently impossible. The accumulation of bodies in the city is causing a stench of decay to spread.

The head of the MBA also reported that Russian soldiers continue to hide in basements and the homes of local residents and are changing into civilian clothing, particularly women’s clothing.
