A road company operating in Odesa region has reimbursed UAH 5.6 million in unpaid taxes following an investigation by the Bureau of Economic Security (BES).

This was reported by the Territorial Department of the Bureau of Economic Security in Odesa region.

As BES analysts found out, the company's executives had been concealing income from road repairs performed for budgetary funds for more than a year. As a result of these frauds, the company failed to pay income tax and VAT, which caused the state losses of UAH 5.6 million.

The case went to court, and the funds have already been returned to the budget in full. The proceedings under the article "tax evasion" were submitted to the court together with the indictment.

The investigation was conducted by the BES detectives in Odesa region, and the Odesa Regional Prosecutor's Office provided procedural guidance.

In turn, sources in law enforcement agencies told Intent that according to the register of legal entities, the company in question is Stroyspetstechnika LLC, a company from Bilyayivka, Odesa Oblast, headed by Ruslan Stepanov. The company is owned by Mariam Karapetyan, the owner of Orlovsky 2012 LLC. As of the last update in February this year, the authorized capital amounted to UAH 5 million 855 thousand.

Earlier, Intent wrote that the Ovidiopol District Court of Odesa Region granted the investigator's request and provided access to documents regarding the procurement of the Dalnytsia Village Council for the overhaul and improvement of the street in the village of Novohradkivka.

The case file shows that the police opened criminal proceedings based on a report submitted to the management by an operational officer. He said that while monitoring the use of budget funds, he discovered the fact of possible abuse and misappropriation of money by officials of the Dalnytsia village council in collusion with Stroyspetstechnika LLC.
