Prosecutors have sent to court an indictment against the former head of one of the departments of the Bilhorod-Dnistrovskyi City Council, who is accused of extortion and receiving illegal benefits.

This was reported by the press service of the Odesa Regional Prosecutor's Office.

According to the investigation, while in office, the official offered a local resident to produce an archival certificate and other documents that would artificially confirm the necessary work experience for a pension. She demanded 500 euros for the service.

After receiving the necessary documents from the man, the defendant reduced the fee to 400 euros and insisted on a partial prepayment. During the meeting at the archive department, the woman received the first part of the unlawful benefit - 10 thousand hryvnias.

Later, the official contacted the man again with a demand to hand over the rest of the amount. During the next meeting in her office, she received another UAH 10.2 thousand for producing falsified archival documents that would allow her to receive a pension of UAH 4-5 thousand.

Immediately after the money was transferred, the woman was detained by law enforcement. It happened on July 15. The court imposed on the suspect a pre-trial restraint in the form of detention with the right to be released on bail in the amount of UAH 120,000 and, at the request of law enforcement, removed her from her position.

Earlier, the State Bureau of Investigation completed a pre-trial investigation and sent to court the case of the commander of a military unit in Odesa region. In early 2025, the official sent four servicemen to repair their own apartment in the city of Podilsk, which was formally registered in the name of their mother-in-law.
