Odesa City Council deputy Andriy Vagapov asked the head of the military city administration, Serhiy Lysak, to initiate an inspection of Odesa bus carriers and drivers for compliance with transportation rules.
According to the deputy, he was prompted to take this step by an incident involving Taras Kordonets, a war veteran, a person with a third-group disability, who was captured by the Russians.
The incident occurred on a bus running on route 145 from Privoz to Marselska Street. The veteran, getting off the bus, showed the driver his combatant's certificate. This caused the driver's dissatisfaction because another soldier with an injured leg got off in front of Taras Kordonets, who also used his combat veteran's ID.
Taras Kordonets replied to the driver's claim that he could provide a certificate of a person with a disability, and in turn asked why he was serving customers in Russian. The mention of the language caused dissatisfaction among the passengers and the driver.
It should be noted that according to the law "On Motor Vehicle Transport," the following people in Ukraine have the right to free transportation in a minibus:
Pensioners can use all types of public transport free of charge, except for the subway and taxis.
