Odesa Mayor Gennadiy Trukhanov has announced the appointment of a new acting deputy mayor, Serhiy Kotsiuba.

He made the announcement during a session of the Odesa City Council.

According to the mayor, the new deputy mayor is a former military man who lost his leg during the fighting in Luhansk region while serving in the 81st Air Assault Brigade and was demobilized.

In his new position, he will oversee the Department of Internal Policy, the Department of Physical Culture and Sports, and the Department of Social Policy and Labor. That is, he will be responsible for the social component of the municipality.

Kotsiuba said that when he arrived at the hospital in Odesa, he saw many problems faced by the wounded and decided to help the wounded first as a volunteer and later as an employee of the health department.

It should be noted that until now, the mayor has had four deputies: Oleksandr Filatov as first deputy, Pavlo Vugelman, Valeriy Silin and Anna Pozdnyakova.

Earlier, Odesa Mayor Gennadiy Trukhanov signed a decree appointing the Director of the Department for Mobilization Training, Military Registration and Defense of the Odesa City Council.

He also appointed an acting director of the new Department of Architecture, Urban Planning and Land Relations of the Odesa City Council, who is also the city's chief architect. The department is temporarily headed by Nadiya Novikova, who was transferred by the mayor in March from the position of director of the Department of Land Resources to head the Department of Architecture and Urban Planning.

Odesa Mayor Gennadiy Trukhanov also appointed an interim acting director of the municipal enterprise "Pravo", which is responsible for organizing state registration of marriages.
