Odesa allocated 30 million from the state budget for student meals

The Standing Committee on Planning, Budget and Finance has approved a number of amendments to the city budget for 2025 for consideration by the Odesa City Council.

According to Oleksiy Potapsky, the chairman of the commission, UAH 18 million 865.8 thousand was allocated from the state budget of Ukraine for meals for students of general secondary education institutions, as well as UAH 11 million 150 thousand for meals for primary school students.

Subventions for education have also been increased: UAH 2 million 410 thousand, UAH 28 million for private secondary education institutions and UAH 5 million 564 thousand for inclusive resource centers.

At the same time, the amount of subventions for supporting the activities of specialists in supporting veterans and demobilized persons decreased by UAH 77 thousand.

In August 2025, the Cabinet of Ministers of Ukraine decided to allocate UAH 779.8 million to provide free meals to primary school students throughout the country, as well as to organize meals for students in grades 5-11 in general secondary education institutions in Dnipropetrovs'k, Donetsk, Zaporizhzhia, Mykolaiv, Odesa, Sumy, Kharkiv, Kherson, and Chernihiv regions.

Meanwhile, the Center for Financing and Economic Activity of Educational Institutions of Peresypskyi District of Odesa conducted a tender to select a company to provide catering services to students of the district's general secondary education institutions. The procurement was conducted in the format of open bidding with special features and the only participant was Fabrika Smaku Limited Liability Company. If the agreement is concluded, the company will have to organize meals for 6,976 students of 26 lyceums and gymnasiums in the district.
