Mykolaiv has decided to establish a municipal yacht club. So far, the charter of the new municipal enterprise has been approved and an inventory of property has been planned.

The Mykolaiv City Council has decided to establish a municipal yacht club to improve the use of mooring facilities and water transport in the city.

In particular, the decision concerns the division of powers for coaching and maintenance of mooring facilities between the Atlant and Olymp integrated children's and youth sports schools. The decision was made to bring the activities of the sports schools in line with the requirements of the law in order to address the problem of inefficient use of berthing facilities, their decay and non-transparent collection of funds from boat owners.

According to the decision, it is planned to establish a municipal enterprise of the city council, Mykolaiv Municipal Yacht Club, and approve its charter, the total value of which is UAH 379,917. The charter is based on the value of the property.

In addition, a commission will be set up to conduct an inventory of municipal property, and the charters of the Atlant and Olymp schools will be amended.

The new enterprise will aim to organize the yacht club and provide services to water transport representatives, in particular, organize regattas and cruises, provide water transport basing, maintain mooring facilities, repair and service watercraft, organize water transport and passenger transportation, as well as water safety measures.

Earlier, Mykolaiv did not approve the decision to establish a sports school on the basis of the yacht club, but the commission took this issue under advisement. It considered the possibility of opening a children's and youth sports school, but the club is currently not functioning due to the lack of a shelter nearby.

Despite this, children continue to practice sailing. The refusal to establish the school was explained by the risk of its misuse by unauthorized persons.

In November, Mykolaiv decided to repair the building and boathouse of the yacht club, which were damaged as a result of Russian aggression. More than four million hryvnias were planned to be allocated from the city budget for these repairs.
