In Mykolaiv region, pyrotechnics eliminated several mines and artillery shells. The ammunition was destroyed in an open area.
This was reported by the press service of the State Emergency Service in Mykolaiv region.
The demining process is ongoing in Mykolaiv region. Sappers also respond to requests from local residents. Most of the requests come from residents of de-occupied settlements or those where active hostilities have previously taken place. Recently, bomb squads carried out work in the Pervomaisk community of Mykolaiv district.
On January 17, specialists of the emergency rescue unit removed four explosive items in the open area. These included 120-mm and 122-mm artillery shells, a 120-mm mortar shell and an M-12 fuse. All the munitions were destroyed by controlled explosion.
Rescuers appealed to citizens to stay safe. Currently, some areas of the region remain contaminated with explosive devices. If you pick up a suspicious item, follow these recommendations to keep yourself and others safe:
Recently, Mykolaiv warned about the danger of swimming in an ice hole on Epiphany. Due to the security situation with explosive devices, rescuers recommended that citizens refrain from swimming. In addition, according to a decision of the city council, Mykolaiv has a ban on beaches and water activities during martial law. Since the start of the full-scale war, 1083 civilians in the de-occupied territories have been injured by Russian anti-personnel mines . Kharkiv, Kherson, and Mykolaiv regions remain the most contaminated with minefields.
Earlier, Shevchenkivska community in Mykolaiv region received modern generators for local fire brigades. The 5 kW and 7.5 kW generators provide stable operation of rescuers even during long power outages. This is especially important for rapid response to emergencies.
The divers of the 3rd Omega Special Forces detachment performed sabotage operations in enemy territory long before the Kursk operation, when it was hard to even imagine. At the end of August, Intent 's journalists visited one of the southern regions of the country and talked to commander Vitaliy and diver Artem. Today their task is to clear the sea area of mines. Over a month of work in the area, more than 170 mines were found and cleared.
