Yaroslav Shanko, head of the Kherson City Military Administration, made changes to the city program “Funeral Services and Cemetery Maintenance in the Kherson City Territorial Community” for 2026–2028. The total funding for the program was increased by nearly 1 million hryvnia—from 58.15 million hryvnia to 59.07 million hryvnia.

The corresponding order was signed on June 22, 2026. According to the document, 19.32 million UAH is planned to be allocated for the program in 2026, whereas the previous version provided for 18.4 million UAH. At the same time, funding for 2027 and 2028 remained unchanged.

The program provides for the maintenance of city cemeteries, the improvement of their grounds, cleaning, landscaping, tree pruning, mechanized grass mowing, maintenance of sections for honorary burials, as well as the development of the material and technical base of the municipal enterprise “Kherson City Funeral Service.”

In addition, the document provides for funding the burials of fallen military personnel and other individuals who participated in combat operations. Nearly 2 million hryvnias have been allocated for these measures over three years, of which more than 802,000 hryvnias are earmarked for 2026. The funds will be used to provide a hearse, dig graves, offer funeral accompaniment, and cover other funeral services.

An additional 2.19 million UAH is allocated for the burial of unaccompanied citizens, people without a fixed place of residence, those whose families have refused to bury them, as well as unidentified bodies.

The Kherson City Council’s Department of Municipal Services, the Office of Social Policy, and the municipal enterprise “Kherson City Funeral Service” have been designated as the program’s implementing agencies.

Earlier, the municipal enterprise “Kherson City Funeral Service” announced a tender for the purchase of memorial complexes for fallen servicemen buried at the Geologists’ Cemetery. The expected cost of the purchase is 6 million hryvnias.
