The Moldovan Ministry of Justice has filed a petition with the Chisinau Chamber of Appeals to suspend the activities of the Moldova Mare ("Greater Moldova") party of Victoria Furtune.
According to the Moldovan Ministry of Justice, the reason for this step was the appeal of the Central Election Commission of Moldova, which concluded that the Moldova Mare political party had committed serious violations of the democratic electoral process.
In particular, according to information received from law enforcement agencies, the party received external funding from the Russian Federation through Promzvyazbank, a partner of the Shor Group. This is contrary to the law on party financing in the election campaign, which categorically prohibits external financing, direct or indirect.
The Moldova Mare (Greater Moldova) party, led by Victoria Furtune, which called for the annexation of part of Odesa region to Moldova, was excluded from the race in the September 28 parliamentary elections.
In May 2025, Victoria Furtune said that Moldova should demand a revision of the borders and the return of Bujak to have access to the sea. She argued that Moldova could demand a revision of the borders because "there is not a single international treaty ratified by Moldova, where it would recognize the loss of Bujak".
On September 21, 2025, President of Ukraine Volodymyr Zelenskyy imposed sanctions against a politician from the group of Moldovan oligarch Victoria Furtune. The sanctions also targeted a number of other politicians who have repeatedly expressed a pro-Russian position, such as Evgenia Gutsul, a Bashkir from Gagauzia, who was found guilty in August by a Chisinau court of complicity in the illegal financing of the pro-Russian party Shor and sentenced to 7 years in prison in a semi-closed penal colony for women.
