Law enforcers exposed a British citizen who was passing data on Ukrainian troops to Russian special services. The foreigner is suspected of espionage.

This was reported by the press service of the Prosecutor General's Office.

The Security Service of Ukraine exposed and detained a citizen of the United Kingdom of Great Britain and Northern Ireland, who is suspected of collaborating with Russian special services and passing classified information about Ukrainian troops. On October 27, 2025, he was officially notified of suspicion under Article 114-2 of the Criminal Code of unauthorized dissemination of information about the Defense Forces during martial law.

According to the investigation, the foreigner arrived in Ukraine in early 2024. At first, he conducted training for the Ukrainian military in Mykolaiv, and later worked in a border guard detachment. In the fall of the same year, the man moved to Odesa, where he established contact with a representative of the Russian special services and agreed to collect intelligence for a monetary reward.

Investigators found that in May 2025, he passed to the enemy the coordinates of the location of Ukrainian units, photographs of a training facility and personal data of servicemen. In addition, the British man's correspondence shows that he performed other tasks, such as collecting information about strategic facilities in Odesa, discussing the possibility of using explosives, and trying to establish contacts with the Ukrainian military command.

For one of these tasks, the man allegedly received 6 thousand US dollars. The court, at the request of the prosecutor, imposed on him a pre-trial restraint in the form of detention without bail. The investigation is ongoing under the supervision of the Prosecutor General's Office.

Also, the head of an Odesa-based company that employs sailors on fishing and merchant vessels was sentenced to 15 years in prison with confiscation of property for high treason. The prosecutor's office proved that he voluntarily cooperated with Russian special services and passed intelligence on Ukrainian defense positions and critical infrastructure to the enemy.
