The art project "Light and Shadow" presented a musical program that combines the depth of contemporary poetry with the magic of live sound.
Project participantsMyroslav Polishchuk and Olena Zymnia performed songs based on poems by contemporary Ukrainian poets.
Myroslav Polishchuk is a musician, arranger, co-author of the creative project, and the author, founder, and organizer of a number of creative projects in Odesa. Olena Zymnia is a poet, prose writer, translator, and winner of the K.G. Paustovsky Municipal Literary Contest.
The Bookstore-Café regularly hosts cultural events. For example, an exhibition by young artist Oleksandra Polyakova took place on June 6.
On May 30,the closing eventfor a photo exhibitionby Natalia Dovbysh, a photojournalist for Intent, took place there; the exhibition had been on display at the venue since March. During the closing event, most of the photographs were purchased by attendees. In total, over 1,500 hryvnias were raised. Intent matched the amount, and all of these funds will be donated to support one of the brigades.
The unveiling of the 3D model of the Kotsyubiy-Khadzhibey Fortress took place onMay 19—the day historians consider to be the city’s actual birthday.
The venue also regularly hosts presentations of rare and little-known books; for example, the presentation of the book *From Odessa to the Ukrainian Bible: Notes by Robert Pinkerton* took place on June 5, William Burkhardt Barker’sbook*Odessa and Its Inhabitants Through the Eyes of an English Prisoner in Russia* on May 21, and a description of Odesa through the eyes ofRobert Stevens, an American from the early 19th century, published for the first time in Ukrainian translation on March 14.
