Kherson region plans 20 million for barrier-free route

A project to overhaul a street with a barrier-free route has been initiated in Kherson Oblast. The project includes sidewalks, ramps, and tactile elements for the safe movement of people with disabilities, the elderly, and parents with strollers.

The village of Velyka Oleksandrivka plans to overhaul Bratska Street. The project involves creating a barrier-free route for people with limited mobility, including people with disabilities, elderly residents, and parents with baby strollers. The goal of the project is to provide comfortable, safe, and accessible transportation for all residents and visitors of the village.

The project involves the Department of Territorial Development of the Kherson Regional State Administration, which is the initiator and developer, as well as the Velyko Oleksandrivka Village Council, which is the contractor, customer, and spending unit.

The total budget of the project is UAH 20.9 million, with funds provided for the construction and reconstruction of sidewalks, installation of ramps and tactile elements.

As part of the repair, flat pedestrian paths made of FEM and asphalt concrete will be arranged, with lowered curbs at intersections with the roadway, ramps in areas with difficult terrain, and tactile tiles for the visually impaired. In addition, it is planned to organize recreation areas, lighting and safe crossings, as well as install benches and trash bins.

The project is part of the Sectoral and Unified Project Portfolio of the community, and is in line with national and local strategic documents, including the Velyko Oleksandrivska Community Development Strategy until 2027. The work is scheduled to be completed by the end of December 2025. Funding for the project has not yet been confirmed.

The village of Arkhangelske also initiated the construction of a new Safety Center to protect the population from emergencies. Part of the funding for the project was provided by the European Investment Bank under the Ukraine Recovery Program, and the total budget is UAH 24.9 million.
