A lyceum in Kherson Oblast plans to modernize its canteen according to the modern Basic Kitchen model to provide meals for 340 students. The project has received almost UAH 200 thousand out of the required UAH 10 million.

This was reported by the Center for Public Investigations with reference to the DREAM ecosystem.

In the bulk institution of the Dariivka community, they plan to overhaul and modernize the dining room and catering unit. The project envisages the arrangement of catering according to the modern technological model "Basic Kitchen", which should ensure high-quality, safe and energy-efficient cooking for all students of the institution.

The Lyceum in Lymanets is the only educational institution in the Darya community that is currently functioning. It is located farthest from the active combat zone and has a shelter, so children can study in a relatively safe environment.

The school canteen is in need of major repairs. The total area of its premises is 218.5 m², of which 94.7 m² is the production area and 80.7 m² is the dining room. The school employs 51 people, 6 of whom work in the canteen.

The production capacity of the basic kitchen is 340 meals per shift. The canteen is staffed by 5 employees and 1 administrator. The kitchen space is divided into three functional areas: the main production, warehouse, and service and amenity areas. The project involves an integrated approach - major repairs to the dining room and catering unit, upgrades to utilities and kitchen equipment. The design and estimate documentation is currently at the design stage.

The estimated cost of the project is more than UAH 10.7 million, of which confirmed funding covers only 1.85%. Last year, the project received 198 thousand state subventions. The lyceum is the only working educational institution in the community that has a shelter and is located in a relatively safe area, so its development is considered a priority for the entire territory.

The lyceum enrolls 340 children, including more than fifty from families of internally displaced persons. Currently, the kitchen uses outdated equipment that does not meet modern requirements, so repairs are considered critical. The premises also need to be updated with a new ventilation system, furniture, hygiene areas, food distribution and storage.

Kherson also plans to equip an autonomous bomb shelter in the basement of one of the schools. Last year, the city budget allocated UAH 200,000 for design and expertise, but more than UAH 17 million is needed for implementation.

In addition, it is planned to repair the basement of the regional clinical hospital, which should become a safe shelter for patients and staff. The project has already been approved, but funding of over UAH 38 million has not yet been confirmed.
