Major repairs of a school shelter have begun in Kherson. UAH 200,000 was allocated from the local budget for the project, and it is planned to raise more than UAH 17 million.

This is evidenced by data from the DREAM digital recovery ecosystem.

In Kherson, major repairs of part of the basement of Kherson Secondary School No. 46 have begun to equip a simple shelter. The project aims to create safe conditions for the organization of the educational process.

Since the de-occupation, the city has been under constant shelling, which has severely damaged the infrastructure, including educational institutions. Despite the danger, there are still about 4,500 schoolchildren and up to 1,000 preschoolers in Kherson, so creating safe conditions for their education has become an urgent need.

After the renovation is completed, the shelter will be able to accommodate 250 children at a time, and up to 500 people in two shifts. The premises will include educational, recreational and utility areas. Special attention is paid to barrier-free accessibility: ramps, handrails, adapted toilets, and contrasting relief lines for visually impaired people are provided.

The shelter will have an area of 452.9 m² and a construction volume of 1240.9 m³. The project includes:

The estimated budget of the project is UAH 17.4 million, of which UAH 14.2 million will be spent on capital expenditures and UAH 3.2 million on operating expenses. Funding currently requires additional confirmed sources.

The repairs are being carried out within the framework of the Single Project Portfolio (SPP) and are part of the Kherson community development strategy. The customer is the Capital Construction Department.

Kherson is also planning to build an underground hospital for children, for which more than UAH 55 million is allocated. The project involves the reconstruction of the basement of the main hospital building. It will include an operating room, intensive care units and other medical facilities that will meet the requirements of protective structures.
