Kherson plans to build an underground hospital for children. It is planned to raise more than UAH 55 million for the project.

This was reported by the Center for Public Investigations with reference to the DREAM ecosystem.

The Kherson Children's Regional Clinical Hospital (KRCH), which has been providing medical care to children for over 60 years, has planned to build a shelter. The project for the reconstruction of the basement of the hospital's main building envisages the creation of a dual-purpose structure that will include an operating room, intensive care units and other medical facilities that will have the protective properties of a DRU.

One of the main tasks of the reconstruction is to provide protection against modern weapons of mass destruction in wartime, and in peacetime - protection against the effects of man-made accidents, disasters and natural disasters. Since the hospital is located on the front line, the need for such protection is extremely urgent. The underground premises, which will be adapted to medical needs, will become a strategic facility for treatment in extreme conditions.

The reconstruction project envisages capital and operating expenses totaling approximately UAH 55.9 million. Capital expenditures include the purchase of equipment in the amount of UAH 18.87 million and construction in the amount of UAH 26.91 million. Operating expenses amount to UAH 2.24 million, and taxes amount to UAH 7.87 million. The estimated duration of the project is 12 months.

Currently, the Kherson Children's Hospital is one of the main medical institutions for children in Kherson and the region. The hospital provides a wide range of services in such specialized departments as gastroenterology, hematology, neurology, infectious diseases, traumatology, surgery, and many others.

Special attention is paid to the neonatal and low-birth-weight care unit. In addition, the hospital carries out consultative activities through the children's regional polyclinic.

The project is supported by the Department of Territorial Development of the Kherson Regional State Administration. The project currently requires additional funding for full implementation.

The construction of a new school radiation shelter has also started in Kherson, which will accommodate up to 450 people and provide reliable protection in case of emergency. More than UAH 100 million in funding is provided for the project.

Meanwhile, in the village of Liubymivka in the Novovorontsov community of Beryslav district, it is planned to restore the kindergarten building, which was partially destroyed during the hostilities. More than UAH 78 million is needed to reconstruct the facility, which will provide children with comfortable conditions for learning and development.
