Journalist and writer Roman Krakaliya dies in Odesa

Odesa journalist, writer, and public figure Roman Krakalia died on January 31.

Roman Krakaliya has been in journalism since 1961: he started in the Putyla district newspaper Zorya Karpat (Dawn of the Carpathians), and for some time worked in the Vinnytsia newspaper Komsomolske Plemya (Komsomol Tribe). From 1968 to 1980. - he was the head of the editorial department of the newspaper "Young Bukovynian" (Chernivtsi).

From 1980 to 1981, he worked in Odesa as an editor of social and political literature at the Mayak Publishing House. From 1981 to 1986, he worked as an editor of literary and drama programs at the Odesa Television Studio. From 1986 to 2013, he headed the department of culture and national revival at the Black Sea News newspaper. He continued to cooperate with the newspaper and to publish actively.

He is the author of the books Three Colors of the Danube, Image, Wandering Islands, Unrecognized Heroes, Return to the Golden Bank, andDnipro<span>Octave</span>.

Earlier, Valeriy Tishchenko, the first head of the Criminalistics Department in the history of the Odesa National University "Odesa Law Academy", died on January 25.

Earlier, the head of the Kiliya district court in Odesa region died suddenly on January 24, around 5 am in the Kiliya multidisciplinary hospital. The 45-year-old judge sought help at the medical facility with complaints of feeling unwell, after which he lost consciousness. Despite the help provided, doctors were unable to save his life. Mykola Balan has been working in the Kiliya court since 2008. In 2015, he became the head of the institution, which he managed for five years. After that, Oleksandr Maslenikov was elected as the head of the court, but in 2023 Mykola Balan was re-elected again.

In December, Valeriy Syrov, a member of the National Union of Artists of Ukraine and an honorary citizen of Bilyayivka, Odesa Oblast, died at the age of 76.
