In the Kherson region, four burial mounds have been designated as protected sites; these sites preserve areas of near-pristine steppe and rare plant species. The new nature conservation sites were established without expropriating land from owners or users.

Oleksandr Prokudin, head of the Kherson Regional Military Administration, signed an order establishing four botanical natural monuments of local significance within the territory of the Beryslav City Community.

The new nature conservation sites have a total area of approximately 0.807 hectares. The list includes the “Tavanska Storozha” burial mounds, covering 0.25 hectares; “Shirbsky Dozor”—0.21 hectares; “Dzhyzyl Velykyi”—0.237 hectares, and “Dzhyzyl Malyi”—0.11 hectares.

The decision was made to preserve the near-pristine steppe and rare plant species. However, the land plots will not be expropriated from their owners or users.

The document instructs the Department of Environmental Protection and Natural Resources of the Kherson Regional State Administration to approve regulations on the new natural monuments within one month, enter them into the State Register of Territories and Objects of Ukraine’s Nature Reserve Fund, and organize the transfer of these territories to protected status.

In addition, within three months, the boundaries of the protected areas must be marked on the ground and official informational signs must be installed. The Beryslav City Military Administration and landowners were advised to ensure the protection of these territories and the preservation of plants listed in Ukraine’s Red Book.

Previously, a court returned nearly 97 hectares of landwithin the “Kam’yanska Sich” National Nature Park to state ownership; this land had previously been transferred to municipal ownership as agricultural land. Prosecutors determined that in 2020, the Main Directorate of the State Geocadastre in the Kherson region transferred these lands to the Milivka Village Council as agricultural land.

However, the plot is located within the national park’s territory, is part of the nature reserve fund, and is under state protection.
