In the first nine months of this year, 11 Russian attacks on ships were recorded in the ports of Odesa region.
At the same time, 13 civilian vessels and one warship were damaged, ZN.ua reported, citing <span> Andriy Klymenko, head of the Monitoring Group of the Black Sea Strategic Studies Institute.</span>
<span>According to the monitoring group, there were no attacks on ships in September, but there were five attacks in August (including a Russian attack on a warship), and five attacks in July. In June - zero, May - one, April - zero, March - three vessels, in January-February - no information was received, Klymenko said.</span>
<span>The vessels were attacked in Odesa Commercial Sea Port, Chornomorsk Commercial Sea Port, Izmail Commercial Sea Port, ports of the Danube region, in the coastal waters of the Black Sea and the mouth of the Danube.</span>
<span>Andriy Klymenko noted that the means of attack were ballistic missiles, attack drones, </span> unmanned sea boats<span>, and sea mines.</span>
<span>For example, late in the evening, on July 23, an emergency occurred with a dredger belonging to the Delta Pilot branch of the state enterprise Ukrainian Sea Ports Authority. </span>The Odesa region was attacked by Russian drones. Warehouses and an outbuilding were damaged, but there were no casualties.
In 2024, the Russians also hit ships. In October of that year, Russia attacked two civilian vessels in the ports of Odesa region in two days. A ballistic missile damaged the Palau-flagged OPTIMA and the St. Kitts and Nevis-flagged civilian shipPARESA, which was loaded with corn for export. It happened near one of the berths in the Pivdennyi seaport. It was the 20th civilian vessel to be damaged by Russian attacks.
