A resident of the Kherson region was sentenced to 15 years in prison for collaborating with the occupiers and working at an illegal police station in Nova Kakhovka. He held the pseudo-head of the detention center and facilitated the illegal detention of Ukrainian citizens.

This was reported by the press service of the Kherson Regional Prosecutor's Office.

In Kherson region, a local resident was sentenced to 15 years in prison with confiscation of property for collaborating with the occupiers. The court made the decision based on a public prosecution by the Kherson Regional Prosecutor's Office.

The man was found guilty of collaboration under Part 7 of Article 111-1 of the Criminal Code of Ukraine. In addition to the actual sentence, he was also deprived of the right to hold positions in government, local government, law enforcement agencies and engage in public activities for 15 years.

The investigation found that in June 2022, during the temporary occupation of Kherson region, the convict voluntarily went over to the enemy and took up the position of "head of the temporary detention center" in the so-called "Novokakhovka City Police Department of the Main Department of the Ministry of Internal Affairs of Kherson Region" created by the occupation administration.

Within this pseudo-position, he fulfilled the tasks of the invaders, in particular, he facilitated the illegal detention of Ukrainian citizens. The special pre-trial investigation was conducted by investigators of the SBU Office in Kherson region.

Also, Oleksandr Bobik, a 68-year-old resident of the village of Burgunka in Kherson region, is suspected of aiding the aggressor state. According to the SBU, in the summer of 2022, during the occupation of part of the region, he voluntarily cooperated with the occupation authorities and headed the so-called "Burgunka School" created by them. In addition, according to the investigation, Bobik intimidated his fellow villagers and threatened them with physical violence in case of disobedience to the occupiers.

In addition, the court sentenced a former rescuer from Crimea to 10 years in prison for cooperating with the occupation authorities in Kherson region. He voluntarily headed an illegally created emergency service, for which he is now deprived not only of his freedom but also of his property and rank.
