A former employee of the Dariiivka colony was sentenced to 15 years for treason - he voluntarily worked for the occupiers and gave information about his fellow countrymen. His wife, who also sided with the enemy, was previously sentenced to 9 years.

This was reported by the press service of the State Bureau of Investigation.

Khadzhybeyskyi District Court of Odesa found guilty of high treason a former employee of Dariivka Penal Colony No. 10 who voluntarily defected to the enemy during the occupation of Kherson region.

According to the SBI, he worked under the Russian flag, received a Russian passport and helped the occupiers, in particular by passing them information about local residents and ATO participants.

In May 2022, when the colony was already under the control of the Russians and the FSB, all employees were offered to choose whether they wanted to work under the laws of the Russian Federation. The former warrant officer and his wife, also an inspector of the colony, agreed to serve the occupation administration, received ruble salaries, boasted of their welfare and betrayed fellow citizens.

After the liberation of part of Kherson region, the traitors tried to avoid punishment by burning their Russian passports and hiding, but were detained by the DBR and the SBU.

The man was sentenced to 15 years in prison with confiscation of property and deprivation of his special rank. His wife, who pleaded guilty and cooperated with the investigation, was previously sentenced to 9 years in prison. The Kherson Regional Prosecutor's Office provided procedural guidance.

Also, a former lawyer of Medvedchuk and Shariy was sentenced to 10 years in prison for aiding the occupiers in Kherson region. Valentyn Rybin was a member of a group that promoted a Russian project to establish "external governance" of Ukraine: together with his accomplices, Rybin created a website stylized as Ukrainian state resources, organized a fake "online referendum" and developed a copy ofthe Diia portal to falsify the results.
