Employees of the State Bureau of Investigation have served notice of suspicion of treason to eight former employees of the Odesa Railways regional branch of Ukrzaliznytsia, who defected to the enemy during the occupation of Kherson.

This was reported by the press service of the State Bureau of Investigation.

According to the investigation, before the full-scale invasion, the men worked in the Kherson paramilitary security detachment as part of the Kherson station rifle team. After capturing the city, the occupiers first of all established control over logistics hubs to ensure the continuous supply of weapons and ammunition to the Russian Federation troops at the front. Those loyal to the "new government" were offered jobs and money.

Eight suspects agreed to cooperate with the occupation administration and contributed to the formation of an occupation paramilitary security unit at the seized Kherson station. Six of them were appointed as riflemen, one was promoted to the head of the guard, and another became his assistant.

The defendants guarded cargo at the railway station, including weapons and ammunition for the Russian army. After the de-occupation of Kherson, they fled with the occupiers.

All eight were served with a notice of suspicion of high treason under Article 111 (2) of the Criminal Code of Ukraine. The sanction of the article provides for life imprisonment with confiscation of property.

Earlier, the Prymorskyi Court of Odesa sentenced a serviceman to 15 years in prison for high treason.

The court also found a 19-year-old Odesa resident guilty of high treason and sentenced him to 15 years in prison with confiscation of property. prosecutors proved in court that the convict, looking for quick money on Telegram channels, was recruited by a Russian FSB officer in the spring of 2024.

Prior to that, the former paramedic from Odesa was sentenced to 15 years in prison with confiscation of property for treason. After being recruited, the agent collected coordinates for air strikes on one of the region's port cities. Among the main targets of the enemy were the basing points of personnel and ships of the State Border Guard Service of Ukraine.
