Despite the dry weather, farmers in the Kherson region managed to plant more than 900 hectares of corn. Last year, this area was just over 1.1 thousand hectares.

This was reported by the Kherson Regional State Administration.

Farmers are preparing to harvest corn.

The crop is up to three meters high, and there are a lot of ears. Despite the drought, this was achieved thanks to proper growing technology, fertilizers, and irrigation.

"Nothing would have happened if there was no water. The administration repaired the P-9 canal. We are now watering from there, ordering water and using machines to water the corn," explains farmer Viacheslav.

The harvest has increased fivefold where watering has been resumed. According to the regional state administration, it is planned to resume irrigation on another 1500 hectares of the Lymanets system.

The corn harvest is scheduled to begin in a month.

Last year, for example, they managed to harvest 2,800 tons with a yield of 25.2 c/ha. Before the Great War, these figures were three times higher.

The number of agricultural enterprises in Odesa region that took advantage of the opportunity to receive loans under the government program "Affordable Loans 5-7-9%" increased by 50 in July.

The Ministry of Agrarian Policy and Food of Ukraine has started accepting applications for budget subsidies from cotton farmers in Odesa, Mykolaiv and Kherson regions.

Odesa region is the first in the South of Ukraine and in the country in general, both in terms of the number of agricultural enterprises that started operating in 2021-2025 and the number of those that ceased operations. According to the analysts of the Opendatabot platform, 612 enterprises opened during this period, and 606 closed.
