The Cabinet of Ministers of Ukraine has issued a resolution shortening the heating season by almost a month and setting the start date as November 1.
This was reported by Deputy Mayor of Odesa Hanna Poznyakova.
According to her, if condominiums or buildings with rooftop boilers start heating before November 1, residents will not receive state benefits and subsidies for this period. The payments will be valid only during the officially defined season.
However, she also noted that in Odesa, the beginning of the heating season is determined by the mayor's order. And it is not yet certain that this will happen on November 1.
"Due to gas shortages and the difficult situation in the energy system, the dates may be shifted," the official said.
In addition, the Cabinet of Ministers adopted the resolution only on October 8, and Naftogaz Trading, according to the vice mayor, has not yet sent updated contracts to heating companies.
According to the Cabinet's resolution, the heating season in Ukraine will now officially last until March 31, 2026. Previously, it lasted from October 15 to April 15.
However, in 2025, Odesa Mayor Gennadiy Trukhanov signed a decree to end the heating season in the city on March 30. At the same time, the Odesa Regional State Administration decided to end the heating season in the region's settlements between March 25 and April 15. This was explained by the warming weather.
The heating season of 2024-2025 in Odesa started on November 4, but the heat was turned on gradually. First, the centralized heating was turned on in kindergartens, schools and hospitals. Due to the complexity of the technological process, it took from one week to 10 days to connect the entire city. In Chornomorsk, the heating season started on November 5. At the time, the Ministry of Community and Territorial Development reported that the heating season had not yet started in Odesa and Kherson regions due to the warm autumn.
