The Pivdenne Ukrainian City Territorial Community will receive grant funding of up to EUR 5.255 million from the Nordic Environment Finance Corporation (NEFCO) under the Green Recovery Program for Ukraine.
According to the Pivdenne Ukrainian City Council, the decision was made by the NEFCO Investment Committee with the support of the Danish Government.
The funds will be used to implement the project "Reconstruction of two wastewater pumping stations and a pressure sewer in Pivdenoukrainsk." The project involves the modernization of the city's critical wastewater infrastructure.
Specifically, plans call for the reconstruction of sewage pumping stations KPS-2 and KPS-3, including the installation of solar panels and high-capacity batteries. This will reduce electricity consumption and ensure uninterrupted operation of the facilities during potential power outages.
There are also plans to reconstruct the pressure sewer line from CS-3 to the Tashlyk Reservoir. The project is expected to improve the reliability of public utilities, reduce environmental risks, and ensure the stable operation of municipal engineering networks.
The community noted that securing an international grant of this magnitude is an important step for the development of Pivdenoukrainsk and demonstrates the confidence of international partners in the city council’s ability to implement large infrastructure projects.
The Pivdenoukrainsk City Council also thanked NEFCO and the Danish Government for supporting the restoration and development of the city’s infrastructure.
Previously, a grant from the Danish Government funded the construction of a new 9.9 MW solar power plant in Mykolaiv.
In addition, the Danish government is ready to allocate EUR 45 million in grant aid for the modernization of new wastewater treatment facilities.
