For the second year in a row, Odesa has been operating a program of partial compensation for generators for homes, which can be received by condominium associations.
Who can take advantage of it, how to apply and how it really works - these are the questions Accents asked Oleksiy Asaulenko, a city council deputy and member of the Standing Committee on Housing and Communal Services, and Yuriy Zvelindovsky, a specialist in housing and communal services.

According to Yuriy Zvelindovsky, the main users of the program were supposed to be new buildings with their own roof boilers, but not all of them took advantage of the program. For example, the house where he is a member of the condominium board was not used because it was not technologically necessary.
The expert also noted that in general, few condominiums used the program: out of more than 1,000 condominiums in Odesa, only 27 used the program. This is because the program makes sense for autonomous new buildings, where generators have the highest efficiency in the event of a power outage, because in the event of a power outage, this generator can provide such a building with water, electricity, and heating.
"There are certain characteristics of a house that encourage residents to use the program. If it is a five-story building, there is no point in a generator for such a building, because it does not provide electricity to the apartments, and there is not much lighting on the floors. Instead, the cost of a generator is from 500-800 thousand, and the compensation is only 200, and this is not including the cost of the work to connect it. That is, if we spent a million and were compensated 200 thousand, it makes no sense," the expert said.
