Colonel Anatoliy Korpan Killed by Enemy Drone in Odesa Attack

On March 4, Colonel Anatoliy Korpan was killed by an enemy drone. He received multiple shrapnel wounds incompatible with life.

This was reported by the Association of Veterans of Internal Affairs in Odesa.

"It is with deep sadness that we inform you that on March 4, our veteran, retired police colonel Anatoliy Korpan, born on January 20, 1962, died at his place of residence as a result of multiple shrapnel wounds incompatible with life, sustained as a result of a UAV hit," the statement reads.

The funeral service will be held on March 6 at 14:00 near the church at Tairovsky cemetery.

Anatoliy Korpan was born on January 20, 1962 in Odesa. He devoted his life to serving Ukraine, first in the Armed Forces from April 1981 to June 1984, and later in the Interior Ministry from March 1988 to July 2014.

Colonel Korpan began his service in law enforcement in 1988 as an operational officer in the Criminal Investigation Department in Prymorskyi and Kyivskyi districts of Odesa. From December 1993 to April 2011, he worked in the Economic Crime Department of the Ministry of Internal Affairs and the Main Department of the Ministry of Internal Affairs in Odesa Region, where he rose from operational to deputy head of the department.

From April 2011 to July 2014, Anatoliy Korpan served as Deputy Head of the Department for Combating Organized Crime of the Main Directorate of the Ministry of Internal Affairs of Ukraine in Odesa Region.

Late in the evening of March 4, Russia struck at the critical infrastructure of Odesa. Part of the city was left without electricity, water and heat. Debris from the downed drones also damaged private homes in the suburbs of Odesa, and there were fires. Firefighters from the State Emergency Service were working at the scene.

According to Oleh Kiper, the head of the Odesa Regional Military Administration, a 77-year-old resident of the village of Lymanka was killed in the drone attack. The man was fatally wounded by shrapnel.
