The official was served a notice of suspicion for extortion for cemetery space.

This was reported by the National Police.

The suspected corrupt official received money in the amount of 1500 for booking several places at the cemetery. He was caught red-handed by police officers. The offender faces up to 10 years in prison.

The investigation revealed that last month, a citizen approached the official with the question of burying his close relatives. However, instead of the expected consultation, he had the experience of communicating with an extortionist.

Law enforcement officers detained the official while he was receiving an illegal benefit right at his workplace.

The detainee was served a notice of suspicion under Part 3 of Art. 368 of the Criminal Code of Ukraine (obtaining an official benefit). The court, which has already taken place, imposed a custodial measure with the right to be released on bail.

The investigation is still ongoing, but it is already known that the accused may face up to ten years in prison with disqualification to hold certain positions or engage in certain activities for up to three years and confiscation of property.

The investigation will be conducted under the procedural control of the Suvorov District Prosecutor's Office in Odesa.

Not only the city, but also the region, appears in the criminal digest from time to time. For example, an assistant judge of one of the districts of Odesa region promised a citizen of the city a "successful" completion and closure of administrative proceedings.

But not only officials, but also lawyers abuse their official position. Thus, a person who is supposed to defend the law decided to earn money by extorting money from the mother of his client to influence the court's decision.
