Beryslav District Faces Mass Exodus Amid Intensifying Shelling

The war is depopulating Beryslav district of Kherson region. People are forced to leave their homes due to intense shelling.

According to Volodymyr Litvinov, head of the Beryslav District Military Administration, more than 35,000 people currently live in the district. At the end of 2024, the number of local residents was 36 thousand. At the same time, 11 villages in the district have no residents left.

"Due to the difficult and dangerous situation, people are leaving for safer regions of Ukraine. Currently, people rarely return to their homes because they are afraid of shelling," Litvinov said.

According to the official, 96 thousand people lived in Beryslav district before the full-scale invasion.

According to him, 116 out of 151 settlements have electricity supply, while 24 villages have no electricity due to constant enemy shelling. Gas supply is available in 33 out of 37 settlements in the district.

Mobile communication is provided by 42 base stations of operators, but it is unstable or completely absent in the coastal villages.

Russian troops continue massive attacks, using various types of weapons, including artillery, mortars, tanks, UAVs and guided aerial bombs. This week, the occupiers struck with guided aerial bombs at the Milivska and Novooleksandrivska territorial communities. More than 60 residential buildings were damaged in the Milivska community.

The enemy also continues to attack Beryslav, actively using drones. Over the course of the week, one of the educational institutions and the area near the medical facility were shelled several times. An ambulance was completely burned down as a result of a hit to the garage. The intensity of the attacks is not decreasing, but rather intensifying.
