Prosecutors from the Kherson Regional Prosecutor’s Office have filed an indictment with the court against a 38-year-old local resident who held a leadership position in the occupation Ministry of Agriculture and Fisheries of the Kherson region in August 2022.

This was reported by the Kherson Regional Prosecutor’s Office

The investigation established that the defendant became the head of the Legal Expertise and Judicial Work Division within the Department of Judicial Work. While in this position, he provided legal support to the illegal authority and represented its interests in courts and other bodies operating under Russian law.

The indictment was drawn up on the grounds of collaboration under Part 5 of Article 111-1 of the Criminal Code of Ukraine. This article applies when a Ukrainian citizen voluntarily began cooperating with the occupying authorities, specificallyby holding positions in government bodies illegally established in the temporarily occupied territory. This offenseis punishable by imprisonment for a term of five to ten years. Additionally, the offender may be barred from holding certain positions or engaging in certain activities for a term of ten to fifteen years, with or without confiscation of property.

Valery Saltikov, a deputy of the Kherson Regional Council, is also accused of collaboration. The prosecutor’s office believes that after the occupation of part of the Kherson region, the suspect re-registered his agricultural enterprises under Russian law. This was done in order to continue operating in the occupied territory.
