Pervomaisk, Mykolaiv region, has started looking for a contractor to reconstruct the Victory Square Memorial Complex. As part of the project, it is planned to arrange an Alley of Glory in honor of the fallen defenders of Ukraine who were residents of the Pervomaisk community.
This was reported by the Center for Public Investigations.
The customer was the Department of Housing and Communal Services of the Pervomaisk City Council. The cost of the work was estimated at UAH 9 million 632 thousand.
Applications from contractors will be accepted until August 4, and the next day an auction will be held in an open bidding format with special features that provide for reduced deadlines for submitting applications and appeals. The project is scheduled to be completed by December 31, 2027.
Initially, the Alley of Glory was planned to be created in the park on Varvarivska Street, but after numerous appeals from the families of the fallen soldiers, the location was changed. As a result of discussions, the Victory Park was chosen as the new location for the memorial space.
According to the project, the Alley will consist of two pedestrian paths and six lawns between them. A red granite block with flagpoles will be installed between the paths, as well as 24 large stands with photos of fallen soldiers (1800 by 1400 mm in size). The paths will be tiled with curly elements, and the area will be equipped with benches, urns, lanterns, and greenery such as boxwoods and thuja.
All landscaping work and maintenance of the Alley in proper aesthetic and sanitary condition will be funded from the community budget.
As previously reported by the executive committee, the families of the fallen defenders were involved in the discussion of the project: they were presented with visualizations of the memorial complex, agreed on the location of the Alley in the central part of the city, and provided with sketches of monuments to be installed on the graves of the Heroes according to applications from the families.
