The contractor decided to make money and overestimated the cost of work performed in Kherson region

During the reconstruction of a kindergarten in Kherson region, a contractor overestimated the cost of work and included in the certificates something that was not in the project. Law enforcement officials have filed a lawsuit to recover the damage caused to the community.

This was reported by the press service of the Kherson Regional Prosecutor's Office.

The Oleshky District Prosecutor's Office has secured the opening of proceedings in the Economic Court of Odesa Oblast against a contractor that caused damage to the local budget during the reconstruction of a kindergarten in the village of Muzykivka, Kherson district.

Back in 2018, the Muzykivka Village Council and the limited liability company entered into a number of contracts for construction work at the kindergarten. However, according to the results of forensic construction, technical and economic examinations, it turned out that the contractor not only overestimated the cost of the work, but also included items in the acts of completion that were not in the design and estimate documentation at all. Thus, the contractor unjustifiably received UAH 1.38 million from the budget. The prosecutor's office is demanding that these funds be returned to the budget through the court.

At the same time, criminal proceedings are underway against a technical supervision engineer accused of negligence. According to the investigation, in 2019-2020, the official failed to ensure proper control over the reconstruction and did not conduct the necessary inspections.

Nevertheless, he signed certificates of completion that did not correspond to the actual scope of work. As a result, more than a million hryvnias were unjustifiably paid from the local budget. The proceedings over this fact are already under consideration, and law enforcement officers are considering bringing the official to justice.

In May, the reconstruction of a kindergarten in the Bilozersky district of Kherson region also resulted in criminal proceedings against the director of the construction company. According to the investigation, in 2019-2020, she failed to control the scope and quality of work, and the acts she signed contained false information - some of the work was done only on paper.
