On November 14, a new water tower equipped with a 10 kW solar power plant was launched in the village of Sebyne, Mykolaiv region. This hybrid system provided the village residents with uninterrupted water supply for the first time. The built-in solar power plant is capable of maintaining the tower's operation for at least six hours even during emergency or planned outages of centralized power supply.
This was reported by the Mykolaiv Regional Council.
The complex includes a 10-kilowatt solar power plant. The system is designed to provide water supply to residents for at least six hours in the event of a power outage. The tower was installed as part of a memorandum of cooperation between Mykolaiv Regional Council and RATEG and with the support of Nova Ukraine. This equipment increases the community's ability to provide water and reduces dependence on power outages.
Earlier it became known that Mykolaiv is implementing an initiative aimed at improving the efficiency of municipal water supply. The project entitled 'Unrevenue Water: Reconstruction of the Water Supply System in a Selected Area of Mykolaiv' has already entered the design stage.
The reconstruction will cover 36 streets of the Korabelnyi district, and the total length of the pipelines to be renovated will be about 23 kilometers. The main goal of the project is to significantly reduce water losses and increase the energy efficiency of water supply.
Funding for the work is provided by a grant from the Danish Government through the Ministry of Foreign Affairs of Denmark, managed by the Nordic Environment Finance Corporation (NEFCO). Mykolaiv City Council and NEFCO signed the grant agreement back in 2024.
According to the mayor, the experience gained in the Korabelnyi district is planned to be scaled up to the entire regional center.
