A soldier from Kyiv region was killed during the attack on Bilhorod-Dnistrovskyi

Relatives and friends said goodbye today in the city of Brovary, Kyiv region, to Sergeant Volodymyr Kovalenko, who was killed while on duty in Bilhorod-Dnistrovskyi, Odesa region, on June 22.

This was announced by the mayor of Brovary , Ihor Sapozhko.

According to him, the deceased served as a rifleman of the security unit of the security platoon of the Bilhorod-Dnistrovskyi District Territorial Center for Manning and Social Support.

On June 22, the Odesa Regional Prosecutor 's Office reported that at night, the Russian armed forces attacked Odesa region with attack drones. Bilhorod-Dnistrovskyi district was under attack. Law enforcement officials launched an investigation into the commission of war crimes (Article 438, part 1 of the Criminal Code of Ukraine). Fires broke out at the site of the strikes, burning buildings on the territory of the ambulance station, a garage and a car in it, and a nearby residential building.

The next day, the Russians launched a missile attack on Odesa region and destroyed a local educational institution in the city of Bilhorod-Dnistrovskyi. Two people were killed in the Russian strike in Bilhorod-Dnistrovskyi. At least twelve people have been reported injured. Three of the injured are in serious condition. Other wounded, including two teenagers, are in moderate condition. Another woman injured in the attack later died.

Employees of the State Emergency Service also counted more than 10 places where Russian drones hit Odesa on the night of June 20.

Firefighters rescued three people and evacuated six others from the burning building. While fighting the fire and rescuing people, structural elements collapsed on the rescuers, injuring three firefighters, who are currently in stable condition in the hospital. A 23-storey residential building was also damaged.
