Russian occupation forces continue to terrorize the Odesa region with missiles and drones. People were killed as a result of a cynical strike on a recreational park, and search and rescue operations are ongoing.
According to the Odesa Regional Military Administration, one of the enemy missiles struck the amusement park. The strike destroyed fishermen’s huts and damaged six passenger cars.
According to preliminary reports, two people were killed and four others were injured. Rescue workers continue to clear the rubble and search for possible victims.
In addition, in another town in the region, a residential building and two passenger cars were damaged by Russian shelling. One more person was injured there.
Rescue workers, medical personnel, law enforcement officers, and other emergency services are on the scene. Details regarding the consequences of the attack are being clarified.
During a previous Russian shelling of the Odesa region, a drone crashed in an open area.
According to the Odesa Regional Military Administration, the driver of a nearby truck was injured as a result.
The man sustained shrapnel wounds. Medical personnel treated him. Cleanup efforts have begun at the scene.
Since July 11, Russia has significantly intensified its attacks on Odesa and the Odesa region. Over the past week of continuous shelling, more than ten people have been killed, and over 30 more have been wounded.
Residential neighborhoods, businesses, port infrastructure, and civilian vessels in the Black Sea have come under fire.
Russian forces have been particularly aggressive in targeting maritime logistics. On July 13, the occupiers struck a civilian vessel flying the Togolese flag that was unloading mineral fertilizers. Five crew members were killed, and five more sailors were wounded.
On July 14, the Russians attacked two more civilian merchant ships flying the flags of Tanzania and Liberia. The captain of one of the ships was killed in the strike.
On the evening of July 17, the dry cargo ship Venturo, flying the flag of the Marshall Islands, was hit by a missile strike. The ship sustained damage and lost propulsion. Crews from Ukrainian Navy vessels carried out a rescue operation and evacuated all 17 sailors—citizens of the Philippines—to shore.
Following a series of attacks on port infrastructure in the Odesa region, shipowners are increasingly refusing to send their vessels to the region, and some grain traders have suspended grain purchases.
Traders are also discussing the possibility of rerouting some grain exports via the Danube for subsequent shipment through the Romanian port of Constanta.
